FAQs

  • The average household septic system should be pumped every three years by a septic service professional. Residential septic tanks should not go more than five years without being pumped. There are several major factors that influence how often to pump your septic system:

    • Number of bedrooms vs. number of people living in the home

    • Total wastewater generated

    • Volume of solids in wastewater

    • Septic tank size

When we service your tank, we conduct a general inspection to inform you of any maintenance items that your septic tank requires.

  • In general, commercial tank pumping should be scheduled every one to three years. The frequency of septic maintenance depends on the answers to the following questions:

    • Septic tank size

    • Traffic to the business

    • Number of appliances contributing to the water intake of the tank

A tank that serves a lot of people or sees a lot of chemicals may require more frequent pumping than a tank that serves a small building with no laundry or dishwashing facilities.

When we service your tank, we conduct a general inspection to inform you of any maintenance items that your septic tank requires.

  • Septic systems are sensitive and regular maintenance is crucial. An easy rule of thumb to help avoid septic issues is not to flush anything besides human waste and septic rated toilet paper. Never flush items such as food, condoms, tampons, grease, paper towels, etc.. Check your filter to ensure it isn’t clogged. Connect with a trusted septic partner, like A-1, for regular inspection and pumping.
